Repair Job Descriptions
JOB DESCRIPTIONS – BRASS

Internal Cleans:  The instrument is
completely disassembled and cleaned
internally and externally using a non-harmful
but effective solution followed by a thorough
brushing and rinsing inside and out.  The
instrument is then re-assembled and
lubricated, tuning slide and hand slides are
fitted as necessary valves are cleaned and
corks and felts are checked. The horn is
wiped down and play tested.  All dent work
and struck slides are additional. All parts are
additional.  Internal clean does not include
the polishing of Silver of Raw Brass finishes.

Silver Cleans:  Applies to silver plated
instruments, both bright silver and satin
silver.  Internal Clean description as listed
above.  Bright silver horns are lightly color
buffed and hand cleaned.   The instrument is
then re-assembled and lubricated, tuning
slide and hand slides are fitted as necessary
valves are cleaned and corks and felts are
checked. The horn is wiped down and play
tested.  All dent work and struck slides are
additional. All parts are additional.  Note:
additional charge to repair plating where it
has been worn though to brass quote at time
of service.

Re-lacquer Only:  Instrument is
completely dis-assembled and the lacquer is
completely striped off.  The horn is then
polished to a high luster.  Dents and
excessive scratches are
NOT removed.  The
horn is then re-lacquered and re-assembled
and lubricated, tuning slide and hand slides
are fitted as necessary valves are cleaned
and corks and felts are checked. The horn is
wiped down and play tested.

Complete Overhaul:  Instrument is
completely dis-assembled and the lacquer
or plating is completely striped off. All dents
are removed from the entire horn.  The horn
is polished to a high luster and then re-
lacquered and re-assembled and lubricated,
tuning slide and hand slides are fitted as
necessary valves are cleaned and corks and
felts are checked. The horn is wiped down
and play tested.

Budget Overhaul: This job is aimed at the
music store that does a lot of rental or
schools. The Instrument is completely dis-
assembled and the lacquer is completely
striped off.  Major reachable dents are
removed.  The horn is then polished and re-
lacquered.  The instrument is re-assembled
and lubricated, tuning slide and hand slides
are fitted as necessary valves are cleaned
and corks and felts are checked. The horn is
wiped down and play tested.
JOB DESCRIPTIONS - WOODWINDS

Playing Condition:  Check all pads, felts,
springs, screws and rods replace felts and
key corks as needed. Mechanisms are
oiled. Each key is leveled, adjusted and
regulated.  Tenon joints are fitted and the
instrument is play tested.  Pad replacement
if needed including labor is an additional
$5.50 to $15.00 per pad.  Tenon cork is
also additional $15.50 ea.  Any instrument
requiring more that 50% of its pads
replaced; it is more cost effective to re-pad
it.

Re-pad Only   The instrument is
completely disassembled.  All corks, pads
and tenon corks are replaced. All keys and
body sections are cleaned. Wood
instruments are oiled. Keys and posts are
lightly chamois buffed.  All pad seats are
checked for chips are cracks and repaired
or leveled as needed.  New pads are
installed and the horn is reassembled.  
Excessive key play is removed and all
adjustments made.

Overhaul, No Plating:   All work is
performed as in the re-pad, except all   
springs are removed and all posts; rings
and keys are machine polished like new.  
Metal body instruments are completely
polished.  Resonite and plastic bodies are
lightly buffed to look like new.  Wood bodies
have scratches repaired and are oiled to
look like new.

Overhaul with plating:   All work
performed as in the above overhaul; plus
all posts, rings and keys are re plated in
Nickel,  Silver and Gold plating is available
and quoted at the time of service due to
market pricing

Saxophone Restoration

Playing Condition    Check all pads,
felts, springs, screws and rods, replace
felts and key corks as needed. Minor
reachable dents are removed.  
Mechanisms are oiled. Each key is leveled,
adjusted and regulated.  Tenon joints are
fitted and the instrument is play tested.  
Pad replacement if needed including labor
is an additional $7.00 to $25.00 per pad.  
Neck cork is also additional $15.00  Any
instrument requiring more that 50% of its
pads replaced it is more cost effective to
re-pad it.

Re-pad:    Instrument is completely
disassembled.  All corks, pads and tenon
corks are removed. All keys and body
sections are cleaned. Minor dents
removed.  All pad seats are checked for
chips are cracks and repaired or leveled as
needed.  New pads, key corks and neck
cork are installed and the horn is
reassembled.  Each key is leveled and
adjusted and regulated. Excess key play is
removed and all adjustments made.  Major
dent work is an additional charge.

Overhaul: Same as above except all dents
are removed from the entire horn.  Light
strapping to remove scratches and overall
smoothness is achieved.  The horn is then
polished to a high luster. The horn is
re-lacquered and reassembled with new
springs, corks, felts and pads adjusted and
regulated to optimal playing condition.
Tenon and Tone Hole Replacement
Tenon Replacement is required when the
tenon on a woodwind instrument has been
broken or worn to the point where the
instrument will no longer stay together.  Our
Repair shop can form a new tenon or
receiver for the instrument  without any
adverse effects to the bore of the instrument.  
We carefully measure the bore and create a
new tenon or receiver for the instrument.
Each tenon replacement also includes the
new tenon cork.

When replacing a tone hole the old damaged
tone hole is drilled and a new tone hole is
formed to the exact measurements of the old
one.
G Bugle Restoration

cleaned and polished as best as possible.
Te instrument is then re-assembled and
lubricated, tuning slide and hand slides are
fitted as necessary valves are cleaned and
corks and felts are checked. The horn is
wiped down and play tested.

Complete Overhaul with playing - Instrument
is completely dis-assembled plating is
completely striped off. All dents are removed
from the entire horn.  The horn is polished to
a high luster and then plated the instrument
is then re-assembled and lubricated, tuning
slide and hand slides are fitted as necessary
valves are cleaned and corks and felts are
checked. The horn is wiped down and play
tested.
